Big

We recently rewatched Big starring Tom Hanks and directed by Penny Marshall. It’s one of those rare films that touches on such specific emotions about childhood, growing older, love, play, wonder.

While some aspects are showing age: hairstyles, clothing. The story remains rather timeless: a 13 year old boy makes a wish and wants to be “big”. His wish is granted as he struggles to survive and figure out how to get back to being a kid again.

The film was nominated for Best Actor (Tom Hanks), and Best Screenplay.

It’s a gem of a little film.

  1. Love this movie too! Timeless as you say. Whenever I see”little corn” on a buffet bar I immediately remember and relate to the scene in the movie with Tom Hanks eating those tiny ears of corn. Funny and so much fun!
