Facebook

Facebook. It certainly has taken the world by storm. It now has over 1 Billion users! Can you believe it?!?! On the negative side there are concerns about it consuming our attention, making our privacy vulnerable,  and taking us away from real life interactions. On the positive side it has connected us to family in friends in ways like never before. One thing is for certain, it is enormous and has changed how we connect.

Primarily, I have found Facebook to be a news source for Global and National news, as well as news about family and friends. It has kept me connected to people in ways that previously would have only happened through phone calls, letters, or reunions. Now, on a daily basis I can see what everyone in my circle is up to. Status updates, photos, videos. It’s all there to observe and interact with.

It certainly seems Facebook is here to stay. But I cannot help wonder for how long. Forever, maybe. Studies are showing that younger people are not preferring Facebook and are instead choosing Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat. Time will tell.

But all of this is still so new, who knows where we are heading? It’s uncharted territory, making it both frightening and exhilarating.
