Jung Typology Test – Introvert/Extrovert

It’s possible many of us have heard about the Jung Typology Test. The personality test that reveals personality types such as ENTJ, INFJ, etc, etc. Somewhere along life’s path you may have been asked to take it. Well, there is a website which allows everyone to take the test for free (listed below). It can offer some insights into yourself, your spouse, really anyone.

The internet is full of personality quizzes and assessments. This test falls under the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator.

From wikipedia: The Myers–Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is an introspective self-report questionnaire designed to indicate psychological preferences in how people perceive the world and make decisions.

[Carl]Jung’s theory of psychological types was not based on controlled scientific studies but, instead, on subjective clinical observation, introspection and anecdote—methods regarded as inconclusive in the modern field of scientific psychology.

Jung’s typology theories postulated a sequence of four cognitive functions (thinking, feeling, sensation, and intuition), each having one of two polar orientations (extraversion or introversion), giving a total of eight dominant functions. The MBTI is based on these eight hypothetical functions, although with some differences in expression from Jung’s model.

And for fun, some clever takes on the different personality types:

There is also an interesting Ted Talk by Susan Cain called, “The Power of Introverts”. Her findings challenge our perceptions of extroverts and introverts. It’s worth a listen, especially for some of us who score as introverts.

Lumyer is an application that adds animation to photographs. It reminds me of the photographs from Harry Potter where the images come to life. You simply download the application, select a photo, and add the animation. For free you are able to create a few photographs with moving images. Beyond that you are going to have to pay. They call the finished product “Lumy”.

Even so , it seems to be the wave of the future. Enhancing photographs in all kinds of ways. Photos and photography have become such a part of daily life, it’s a natural progression. And it creates such a dynamic photo. This is surely the beginning of something new, and boundless possibilities await.

The Book With No Pictures

B.J. Novak has written a wonderfully creative and out of the box clever book with The Book With No Pictures. And let me tell you, the truest test is to read a book aloud to a collection of kiddos and they will let you know exactly the merits of the book.

In this case my test group were my nieces and nephews who roared with delight at every page. And at the very end, what did they want to do? Have me read it again. The truest sign of success.

This book with no pictures plays on the notion that the reader must read everything written on the page. As silly and ridiculous as that turns out to be, it in equal measure delights the audience. Kudos to Novak for writing an instant classic.

The Danish Girl

Have you seen the trailer for The Danish Girl yet? Wow, talk about a stunner. Not only does it showcase Eddie Redmayne is what is certainly another Oscar Nomination, but also suggests nominations for Best Picture, Best Actress, Cinematography, Costuming, Adapted Screenplay, Direction, and Score. The film is based on the novel of the same name by, David Ebershoff. It’s a fictionalized account of Lili Elbe, a transgender woman believed to be one of the first recipients of sex reassignment surgery.

It’s rare to be able to glean such promise from a trailer. However, I had a similar feeling when seeing the Mad Max; Fury Road trailer, it was unlike anything I had seen. And somehow this feels the same.

Not only is this topic timely as we are all witnessing in real time transgendered people and their stories. Look at shows Orange is the New Black and Transparent; and notable people Laverne Cox, Chaz Bono, and of course Caitlyn Jenner.

The film appears to be elevating the transgender story to a new artistic height. Opening on November 27th, you will find me in the movie theatre. It looks exquisite.
