The Comeback

The Comeback is an HBO Series starring Lisa Kudrow as Valerie Cherish. The character Valerie used to be a big TV star, but she has gotten older and her stardom has faded. The series first debuted in 2005 to mixed reviews. And then as time progressed and people watched it over the next 9 years, something changed. It was as if it was just a little ahead of its time. While still not for everyone as it favors the uncomfortable and awkward, it seems to have found a place in pop culture. The second season is getting positive reviews but is still awkward and cringe inducing. And also pretty funny. The Comeback came back after 9 years. That’s worth something.

Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan Movies

Netflix has recently reminded me of Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan films. What I found interesting is how they have made 3 films together with relatively little fan fare. Watched Sleepless in Seattle and You’ve Got Mail. Neither film is perfect or award-winning. And yet there is something comforting. Perhaps it’s that they are both such likable people, and the films are satisfying. Finding myself enjoying films more and more that go down like a good cup of coffee. (Have never seen Joe versus the Volcano, but maybe will give it a try too). Apparently, they are working together again in a film coming out in 2015 titled Ithaca.

Pumpkin Spice

Ah, pumpkin spice. That thing of Fall. Honestly, it started at Starbucks with their Pumpkin Spice Latte a few years back. This year I am enjoying Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Spice Coffee. A little obsessed, and why not? Found some funny and unusual items that purport to be pumpkin spiced.  Check out the gallery below. Enjoy the season.

And a pretend one just to keep it interesting…

From the website:

We believe that animals are entitled to kind and respectful treatment at the hands of humans, and must be protected under the law.

Who We Are

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) was the first humane society to be established in North America and is, today, one of the largest in the world. Our organization was founded by Henry Bergh in 1866 on the belief that animals are entitled to kind and respectful treatment at the hands of humans, and must be protected under the law. Headquartered in New York City, the ASPCA maintains a strong local presence, and with programs that extend our anti-cruelty mission across the country, we are recognized as a national animal welfare organization. We are a privately funded 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation, and proud to boast more than 1 million supporters across the country.

Of course there are many organizations in which to adopt, including families who foster pets for adoption. Just be sure to do your research, ask friends, make smart choices. But pets are an amazing thing.
