It’s possible that Cabaret is my favorite musical. I saw the 1998 Revival 4 times. And now, by the stroke of pure luck and genius the production has returned to NYC. Starring Alan Cumming and Michelle Williams. I can’t wait to see it. The cast have to be quadruple threats: acting, singing, dancing, and playing instruments as they are also the band. But it’s the story that really resonates. Hatred and bigotry still ring true today, unfortunately, but so do themes of grit and perseverance through adversity.

What good is sitting alone in your room?
Come hear the music play.
Life is a Cabaret, old chum,
Come to the Cabaret.
