There is a PBS Documentary about Johnny Carson as part of their American Masters series. It’s called Johnny Carson: King of Late Night. It is really quite good, moving, and inspiring. It takes you through his entire career and through all the years of the Tonight Show. One of the fascinating moments when they are discussing Johnny and his impeccable sense of timing. Not only in comedy, but also knowing when it’s time to go. He lived his life fully and was an example of being the best at what you are called to do.

Bette Midler was the last guest on his show, and she sang, “One For My Baby (And One More For The Road)” as his goodbye song. A now classic moment for which Bette won an Emmy.
